NEW ORLEANS — More than 4,300 Entergy customers were without power in Hammond Saturday evening, a spokesman with the company said.

The power outage was north of the Louisiana Highway 190 and east of Interstate Highway 55, the company's power outage map showed.

Entergy spokesperson David Freese said braces holding up a cross arm that delivers power to the area were broken, and restoring power to all customers in the area will take a couple of hours.

Crews in the field Saturday evening were working to reroute power to as many customers as they can, Freese said.

The online map said the power should be back as soon as possible. The website estimated that power would be back around 7 p.m.

Entergy's website apologized for the inconvenience.
