The Irish Channel Parade held a practice march to ensure they had the drinking stamina ahead of next week's parade.

NEW ORLEANS — If you missed the sea of green in the French Quarter Friday afternoon, it's okay, There is more to come.

Members of the Irish Channel Parade held a practice march to ensure they had the drinking stamina ahead of next week's parade.

Mardi Gras season is over, but St. Patrick’s day is right around the corner, so parade-goers are out practicing marching and drinking ahead of next weekend’s parade.

Could it be the luck of the Irish? Or could it just be the Guinness?

One member of the parade said, “This will be the kick-off for the Irish month. This is a little practice march. We get our legs in shape, we get drinks in our hands in shape, and we have a good time.”

It's not really a parade. The Irish Channel Parade are just practicing for the real one next week because they need to ensure their liver has the stamina to withstand the alcohol.

“It's all about the Irish culture, the Irish heritage, and the Irish Channel. That’s what we’re always trying to promote. That’s what we love," said the same member.

Green, on green, on green, waves of the green were seen throughout the Quarter.

Another member said, “It's so fun, family, friends, green, we love green.”

And they’ll do it all again next week.
