BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana State Police troopers are investigating what led to a crash on Interstate 10 westbound at LA 415 in West Baton Rouge Parish that left a mess on the interstate and had traffic backed up for miles.
State police said the crash involved four overturned 18-wheelers and a passenger car. Approximately 40,000 pounds of candles were scattered across the westbound lanes of Interstate 10. Westbound traffic was being diverted to LA Hwy 415 north to US Hwy 190 west.
LSP, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development workers, and the heavy-duty wreckers were on the scene to assist with re-opening the roadway.
It is still unclear what led to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
