BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles announced that their offices are experiencing a temporary statewide system outage.
In a post on social media, the OMV said due to the system outage currently unable to process driver's licenses, vehicle registration, and reinstatement transactions. The cause of the outage is unknown at this time.
OMV Deputy Director Austin Badon tells WWL Louisiana that the department's computer "mainframe system" is down with no indication of when service will return.
Badon says the OMV's IT vendors are now investigating. At this point, OMV says there is no indication the system has been hacked.
The OMV also said they do not have an estimated time of restoration.
