NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana has one of the highest rates of regular church-going residents in the United States. In fact, Louisiana is fourth in the nation with 46 percent of respondents saying they attend services every week.
The results are part of a Gallup poll. Utah has the highest rate of regular church attendance with 51 percent of respondents saying they attend at least once a week. Along with Louisiana, fellow southern states in Mississippi (2nd), Alabama (3rd), Arkansas (5th), South Carolina (6th), Tennessee (7th), Kentucky (8th), North Carolina (9th) and Georgia (10th), rank highly.
Vermont had the lowest percentage of respondents saying they attend regularly, with only 17 percent giving that answer.
