Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police attorney and spokesman Donovan Livaccari has died

Livaccari was a retired NOPD police sergeant and also served as the general counsel for the state lodge.

ABITA SPRINGS, La. — Long-time member of the Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police and attorney Donovan Livaccari has died, according to the LFOP. Livaccari was 56 years old.

"It is with a heavy heart that we at the Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police announce the passing of our brother, Donovan Livaccari," LFOP said in a Facebook post Saturday evening.

Livaccari was a retired NOPD police sergeant and also served as the general counsel for the state lodge.

He was a father, husband, and "familiar voice on behalf of the NOPD rank-and-file, including many among them who faced discipline, criminal sanctions, or public scorn," Nola.com reported.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.

"During this time of loss, we ask that you keep his family in your prayers. This is a great loss to his family and ours".

The City of New Orleans released a statement following Livaccari's passing.

“Mayor LaToya Cantrell, on behalf of the citizens of New Orleans, sends heartfelt condolences to the Livaccari family.

Mr. Livaccari was a treasured member of the community and served the City of New Orleans with distinction as a member of the New Orleans Police Department. 

Mr. Livaccari was a well-known representative of the Fraternal Order of Police and earned a Law degree from Loyola University. He went on to practice Law and specialized in representing law enforcement officers in various legal cases. 

Attorney Livaccari’s commitment to serving the City and law enforcement community will always be appreciated. Our prayers go out to his family, may he rest in perfect peace.”
