List of free Thanksgiving meal giveaways

Events around Orleans and the Northshore host giveaways, meals, and other needed supplies for the holidays.

With the holidays around the corner, events in Orleans, Baton Rouge and the Northshore are helping families in need with free Thanksgiving dinners and giveaways.

Thanksgiving Grocery Giveaway for Seniors

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 22

The JenCare Senior Medical Center is giving away take-home Thanksgiving dinner bags to seniors for the upcoming holiday. 

Seniors can visit JenCare in Gretna to receive a free Thanksgiving dinner bag. The giveaway starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m.

The Queen Baton Rouge Thanksgiving Pie Giveaway

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 22

The Queen Baton Rouge is giving out apple, pecan, and sweet potato pies from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. The event is first come first serve.

Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office 49th Annual Thanksgiving Celebration

THURSDAY, NOV. 23

The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office is giving away 2,000 holiday meals to families in the Orleans area. The annual event will help to distribute meals to seniors, local shelters and more.

The meal will start at 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Ernest Morial Convention Center in Hall G.

Volunteers are also needed to help Sheriff Susan Hutson and her staff.

St. Vincent De Paul Thanksgiving Event

THURSDAY, NOV.23 

A free Thanksgiving meal will be provided to families in Baton Rouge from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. The event is sit-down only.

Families in Lake Charles can get a free Thanksgiving meal at Biscuits & Jamz from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m.
