HOUMA, La. — Authorities are searching for drive-by shooting suspects who escaped from police following a high-speed chase.
Shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, Houma Police were called to the Roselawn Avenue and Payne Street area to investigate reports of a shooting, authorities said. Police learned an individual driving a four-door vehicle shot at a residence in the 400 block of Roselawn Avenue.
Police later located a vehicle near Prospect Boulevard that matched the description of the suspect vehicle, authorities said. After police attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed toward the Village East area.
The vehicle eventually entered an empty field behind several homes and four suspects got out and ran in separate directions, police said. No arrests were made.
Police found a 9mm handgun and several .45-caliber rounds inside the abandoned vehicle, authorities said. Police believe the rounds matched the rounds fired at the home on Roselawn Avenue.
The incident remains under investigation.
