The following is a press release from Lafourche Parish
(Mathews, La.) Services at the Lafourche Parish Government office building in Mathews will remain open for business from Monday, November 28 until Tuesday, November 29, while employees move into new offices within the complex, Parish President Charlotte Randolph said Wednesday.
Starting Monday, the Permits, Planning and Public Works departments will move to the new offices in the building.
Parish Department of Public Works Director Kerry Babin said those departments will continue to operate on a 'limited staffing' basis during the move.
Babin said Phase 2 of the renovation has proceeded on schedule and without delay. He added that the Louisiana Fire Marshal's Office approved the move into Phase 2 after the weekly construction progress inspection.
It is part of the $2.7-million renovation funded by a Community Block Development Grant.
LPG moved into the location after the Raceland complex was heavily damaged in 2008 by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
Currently, BET Construction is re-building the interior of the complex based on a design by the architectural firm Weimer Gros Flores. The building is the site of the old Wal-Mart Store at 4876 Hwy. 1.
Phase 3 of the renovation, which includes the Council chamber, will begin soon and is expected for completion in February 2012.
