HOUMA, La. — Authorities say two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a crash on Louisiana Highway 57 in Terrebonne Parish on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. near Dream Court and claimed the lives of 50-year-old Craig Boudreaux and 49-year-old Cookie Boudreaux of Houma, La.
Troopers say 60-year-old Jorge Hernandez of Houma was driving a 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander north on LA Hwy 57 when "for reasons still under investigation" the SUV crossed into the center line and struck Boudreaux's 2002 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling in the opposite direction.
Both Craig and Cookie Boudreaux suffered fatal injuries in the crash and died at the scene. Hernandez and his passenger suffered serious injuries and were taken to a New Orleans area hospital for treatment.
State police say all occupants were wearing seatbelts. Toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for analysis. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
