Residents can donate their unwanted beads to the Metairie and Baton Rouge locations on Mar. 5 and Mar. 6.

METAIRIE, La. — Krispy Kreme is offering a dozen doughnuts for every 12 pounds of Mardi Gras beads donated, according to Nola.com.

Residents can donate their unwanted beads to the Metairie and Baton Rouge locations on Mar. 5 and Mar. 6.

For every 12 pounds of beads, the shops will offer a coupon that residents can use to get 12 of its Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

The donations help to support The Arc of Greater New Orleans (ArcGNO), a nonprofit that works to provide opportunities for those with intellectual disabilities. The donations are used to provide jobs and recycle discarded beads, Nola.com said.

Beads can be donated to the Metairie location at 825 Clearview Parkway, and in Baton Rouge at 5504 Plank Road from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. only on Tuesday, Mar. 5 and Wednesday, Mar. 6.
