NEW ORLEANS - The 2018 King of Bacchus, actor J.K. Simmons, had quite the visit to Children's Hospital on Saturday.
Simmons' visit was a part of the Bacchus Mardi Gras tradition. Each year the king visits with children at the hospital and gives them Mardi Gras trinkets, like shirts, cups and doubloons.
"It was awesome, I think Curtis was excited to meet someone famous," parent Adrienne Davis said.
Along with the gifts, Simmons gave the children a great excuse to get out of their rooms.
"It's beautiful to see all the families, the support that all these kids have, and see the positivity from their families and then from the kids themselves. It's a heartwarming thing to witness," Simmons said.
Simmons said the visit was the highlight of his Bacchus weekend.
Parents also got a treat out of Simmons' visit too.
"Just the smiling faces on the kids," one parent said.
