WESTWEGO, La. - Police arrested two juveniles in connection with the murder of a Westwego teenager.
On Monday, Oct. 19, a 15-year-old boy was shot as he tried to get away from a group of people early that morning, and died later in his parents' home in Westwego, according to the police. The incident occurred in the Tanglewood Apartment complex.
A week later police announced the arrest of two 16-year-old boys who were each booked with second-degree murder. One boy was arrested at his mother's home in Kenner, while a second suspect surrendered to police.
According to police, the victim, Kevin Thomas, was talking with several other people in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Sycamore Drive, when, for some reason, he was shot several times as he retreated.
Police spokesman Eric Orlando said two emergency calls were made to police, the first from someone in the area reporting gun shots and the second from Thomas' mother.
Authorities found Thomas lying on the living room of his parents' home. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
