JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — One day after a woman and two children were brutally killed inside their Terrytown home, a neighborhood is left numb.
“To know a family went through such horrific pain and a mother watched her children, it's unfathomable,” one neighbor said.
“When I found out they were kids, the kids I said wow, they'll never have a future, it was taken away from them by a senseless act,” another neighbor said.
WWL-TV was able to speak to Idel Rhodes, the grandmother of the two children and mother killed.
“None of them deserve this,” she said. “Now I never get to hear my baby's voice again, I will never get to see or talk to them or nothing.”
The man deputies say confessed to the crime is Terrance Leonard, who dated Riley.
“She didn't want him no more,” Rhodes said.
According to Rhodes, Riley told Leonard to leave.
“There was something about him that made me not want to be bothered with him,” Rhodes said.
Now as the family tries to understand the tragic events, Rhodes only has one thing to say to Leonard.
"What I need to tell Terrance, Leonard, rot in hell, rot in hell. As far as I'm concerned I'm looking straight for death penalty,” Rhodes said. "It may seem cold, may seem hard, I'm sorry you took innocent lives and they were mine."
Two more of Rhodes' grandchildren remain in the hospital in critical condition.
