Popular Kenner seafood restaurant catches fire

Employees and patrons were inside the restaurant when the fire started, but nobody was injured, police said.

KENNER, La. — A popular seafood restaurant in Kenner was damaged by a fire Saturday. 

Kenner firefighters responded to the Fisherman's Cove restaurant on Williams Boulevard. 

Employees and patrons were inside the restaurant when the fire started, but nobody was injured, according to Michael Cunningham, a spokesman for the Kenner Police Department. 

The building also houses Harbor Seafood and Oyster Bar, which appeared damaged in several photos provided by Kenner police. 

Several streets have been blocked off by police to prevent drivers from approaching the area. 

  • Williams Boulevard northbound at Interstate 10 is shut down.  
  • Williams Boulevard southbound at 33rd Street is shut down.
  • I-10 eastbound Williams Boulevard exit going northbound on WIlliams Boulevard is closed.
  • 32nd Street East and West bound are closed.

Police encouraged drivers to avoid Williams Boulevard between I-10 and West Esplanade Avenue until the fire was contained.
