JEFFERSON PARISH, La.- The Jefferson Parish School Board officially banned Parish President Mike Yenni Tuesday afternoon from stepping foot on more than 80 school properties, including for school-related activities.
The vote, however, did not come without a lengthy discussion.
"Since he's already written a letter and subjected himself to the letter, why do we have to put anything else to that," District 2 Board Member Ricky Johnson said.
However, others disagreed.
"He's a self-admitted pervert. I don't know what we're arguing about here," District 8 School Board Member Marion Bonura said.
The discussion also included lots of clarification as to what the ban really means.
"This policy, it's not law, but it is board policy and therefore the individual would be in violation of board policy were he to come on-campus," District 9 school board member Sandy Denapolis-BoSarge said.
Throughout the parish, thousands of people are taking matters into their own hands, one by one, signing recall petitions. James Lam added his name to the growing list, saying Yenni's behavior is unacceptable.

"We don't want our children, to hear about these things and think that this is okay, and that goes for the President that we're going to be electing too," Lam said.
The recall petition needs around 90,000 signatures in order for a recall election to be called. So far, they've received more than 25,000 names.
"If we count the thousand signatures we've collected at the 10 locations, plus the early voting locations, we're probably at 3,000 more, which would put us at about 28,000," Robert Evans, Chairman of the Recall Yenni Petition said.
According to a WWL-TV poll, nearly half of those who answered would likely sign the petition.
"People are really disgusted with this situation. I can't believe this man is staying in power. He should get run out of town," Jefferson Parish President and recall volunteer Anthony Bloise.
According to our partners at The Advocate, Yenni is not allowed to enter the board's meeting room, unless the board decides to repeal their decision.
