WESTWEGO, La. — A Gretna man was struck and killed as he ran across the lower level of the US 90 West Bank Expressway Monday night, according to State Police.
Richard Breaux, 64, was hit and killed as he ran into the path of a Jeep Wrangler around 8:45 p.m. near U.S. 90 west bound near Avenue D.
State Police said Breaux apparently ran across several lanes of traffic and was wearing dark-colored clothing. He was hit by the Jeep and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said impairment is not suspected but that a toxicology sample was taken from both Breaux and the driver of the Wrangler.
The driver was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
