METAIRIE - Low-income seniors in Jefferson Parish can receive some assistance with their electric bills if they show up at the Mike Miley playground between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday.
Many electric bills soared in December and January due to several days of freezing temperatures.
The assistance is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Those seeking help need to be 60 years of age or over and they need to bring:
- Proof of Jefferson Parish residency (recent electric bill sent to address, for instance)
- Current Entergy or Atmos bill
- Identification for everyone living at the residence
- Social Security cards for everyone at the residence
- Proof of income for those at the residence
