JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — Bystanders rescued two people after a vehicle crashed into a canal in Metairie.
The crash happened on West Esplanade near Cleary Ave. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office says it was a two-vehicle crash, and one vehicle went into the canal.
The driver and passenger that were in the car that went into the canal were both injured and taken to the hospital, according to JPSO. The driver is in critical condition.
The other driver was not injured.
JPSO is investigating the cause of the crash.
