JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — All Catholic and public schools on the Eastbank of Jefferson Parish will be closed on Wednesday due to the water main break.
JP Schools said that if the boil water is extended until Thursday, schools in East Jefferson may have to transition to virtual learning on Thursday, January 25.
The Archdiocese of New Orleans says they were told that their facilities would not have adequate water pressure to operate safely on Wednesday. Parents should check for communication from their child(ren)’s schools for school-specific information, according to The Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Jefferson Parish officials issued a boil advisory shortly before 5 p.m.
The outage and boil advisory is affecting the entirety of the East Bank, including Kenner and Harahan.
