JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — The Jefferson Parish Inspector General issued subpoenas in a Gretna Brew Pub and parking garage project. Last week, officials broke ground ground on the $10 million taxpayer-funded development.
It will house a Port Orleans Brewing Company location, a taco restaurant, and a government information desk. The IG started questioning the project after a council meeting last year to approve the lease.
That was the only part of the project put out for public bid. In a scathing letter, the IG questioned whether there was waste, fraud, or abuse involved.
So far, the IG has issued subpoenas to the two publicly-funded entities building it and the architect.
More are expected to come this week as she conducts a full audit.
