Pregnant woman killed in Kenner crash, road rage may have been a factor

Kenner police say road rage is being "considered as a major factor" in the crash.

KENNER, La. — A pregnant woman was killed in a car crash that police say may have been caused by road rage.

According to Kenner police, 22-year-old Jade Lewis was driving east on West Esplanade Avenue when her vehicle went off the road and crashed into a power pole. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say Lewis was in the late stages of pregnancy.

A second vehicle also lost control and struck a second power pole at the intersection. That pole was cut in half. The driver was injured but was being treated on the scene.

Police say road rage may have been a "contributing factor" to the crash and criminal charges may be filed. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
