Water line repair causes low water pressure in Jefferson Parish, forces elementary school to close

Parish water department workers are repairing the line in the 3100 block of Highway 90.

WAGGAMAN, La. — Crews with the Jefferson Parish Water Department are repairing a water line feeding part of Waggaman and Avondale. That has Cherbonnier Elementary closed for the day because of low water pressure.

Parish water department workers are repairing the line in the 3100 block of Highway 90. Residents in the area will experience low water pressure, however, the parish said a boil water advisory is not issued at this time.

“Residents in the Waggaman and Avondale areas from Avondale Garden Road to River Birch Landfill and Highway 90 to River Road may experience low water pressure while crews isolate valves for the needed repair,” the parish said.

Because of the low water pressure, Cherbonnier Elementary administrators announced that the school would be closed on Thursday.
