METAIRIE, La. — A police chase through Old Metairie in Jefferson Parish ended with a crash near a preschool.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office has not said what led to the police chase which happened early Thursday morning.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies chased a black Ford F-150 through Old Metairie where the pickup truck came to a dead-end street on Metairie Avenue at Hesper Avenue. The truck crashed into the fence of the Little Red School House preschool where a suspect bailed out and fled on foot.
Deputies then set up a search parameter around Beverly Garden Drive, Codifer Boulevard, and the crash scene on Metairie Avenue.
JPSO says that there were other passengers in the pickup truck who were detained after the chase, but they were then released. Police identified the passengers as a woman, a teenager, and two toddlers.
One male suspect was arrested.
They say the truck was reported stolen out of New Orleans. The suspect arrested in this incident is also from New Orleans authorities say.
According to JPSO, narcotics and a gun were found in the stolen truck.
Investigators tell WWLTV that it doesn’t appear that this chase is related to the police chase and deputy shooting that happened Wednesday night. Two suspects are still at-large in that case.
In that incident, deputies tried to pull over a vehicle near North Arnoult and the South I-10 Service Road.
The driver took off, eventually hitting another car at the corner of Manson Avenue and South I-10 Service Road, JPSO Captain Jason Rivarde says.
After the crash, the two suspects got out of the car armed with handguns and threatened the deputy who fired his weapon at the suspects as they fled on foot.
The suspects got away, and police are searching for those suspects in that chase.
