LA Insurance Commissioner-Elect forms advisory council to tackle state insurance crisis

Temple says the council will identify recommendations on how Louisiana works with and regulates the insurance industry.

LOUISIANA, USA — Tim Temple, the newly elected Louisiana Insurance Commissioner, announces the formation of his Insurance Advisory Council with the goal of tackling a solution to the state’s insurance crisis.

Temple says the council will identify recommendations for the upcoming legislative sessions to make changes to how Louisiana works with and regulates the insurance industry.

“We can’t sit around and wish this problem away. I ran on a platform of immediately getting to work for the people of this state and that’s exactly what we’re doing,” Commissioner-Elect Temple said.

“We’re going to bring everyone to the table and we’re going to figure this out. Families and businesses can’t wait any longer. It’s time to get to work.”

The Advisory Council will focus on five areas of the insurance crisis and aim to develop specific policy solutions.

Property Insurance

Chairperson: Jimmy Ordeneaux, Partner at Plauché Maselli Parkerson LLP

Automobile Insurance

Chairperson: Randy Guillot, President of Triple G Express; Former Chairman of American

Trucking Association

Life and Health Insurance

o Chairperson: Derek Babcock, President of Insurance and Financial Services, Inc. and Allied

Benefits Solutions, LLC

Residual Market and Safety Nets

o Chairperson: Mike Adams, Partner at Decuir, Clark & Adams LLP

Future of the Louisiana Marketplace

o Chairperson: Noel Bunol, Executive Vice President of Gulf States Insurance
