HARVEY, La. — Firefighters in Jefferson Parish battled a two-alarm house fire in Harvey that displaced three women.
It happened at about 12:42 a.m. Wednesday in the 1700 block of Estalote Avenue according to a Harvey Volunteer Fire Company #2 report.
When fire units arrived, the home had heavy black smoke billowing from the structure. The women tell first responders that they were awakened by the sound of the smoke detector alarm and managed to escape the fire unharmed.
“Quick action by firefighters kept the blaze contained to the front bedroom. The rest of the structure received smoke damage and some water damage,” Harvey Volunteer Fire Company spokesperson said.
No injuries were reported, the fire department said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
