HAMMOND, La. — Students at Southeastern Louisiana University have won another Emmy Award, the school announced Wednesday. They were recognized for their live coverage of the Southeastern vs. LSU Women’s Basketball game on Nov. 17 last year.
Students Chase Gispert and Natalie Kelly reported the game live. Gispert was a play-by-play announcer and Kelly was the color analyst.
“It is important to note that this achievement is the result of the hard work and dedication of the entire student staff of the Southeastern Channel,” said Steve Zaffuto, Southeastern Channel Operations Manager.
This is the second time students have won the award for Student Production Emmy Award for Best Live Sporting Event by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Suncoast Chapter.
"Students contributing to the award-winning broadcast included Kendrick Allen of Harvey, Eric Brignac of Gramercy, Boglarka Csordas of Hammond, Jules Dormain of Denham Springs, Mackenzie Fletcher of Madisonville, Carson Fryou of Ponchatoula, Alexis Genovese of Husser."
The Emmy Award was announced last month in April at the 2024 Suncoast Student Production Awards Ceremony.
