Hammond police officer investigated for shooting man during ‘no-knock’ warrant

The lawsuit filed by the victim accuses the officer of shooting him in the neck while serving the warrant.

HAMMOND, La. — A Hammond police officer is now under a criminal investigation after he allegedly shot a man while serving a 'no-knock' warrant back in July.

The lawsuit was filed by Lionell Jackson against Hammond PD officer Craig Dunn who is accused of shooting Jackson in the neck during the no-knock warrant according to a WBRZ report.

Jackson's attorney says he was in bed when Officer Dunn pulled the trigger.

However, legal documents say Jackson was seen flushing blue pills down the toilet and refused to listen to officers' commands when they went inside the house – leading to police firing shots at Jackson.

The documents say Dunn was punished for not having his body camera on during the incident but he was not reprimanded for the shooting itself. The FBI is now investigating the case.
