Entergy New Orleans' resilience plan approved

The New Orleans City Council and Entergy New Orleans have made the first step toward improving Entergy's grid.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans City Council and Entergy New Orleans have made the first step toward improving Entergy's grid.

On Thursday, the council approved the first phase of Entergy's resilience plan. After Hurricane Ida, Entergy New Orleans submitted the 10-year, $1 billion plan, to harden our storm grid.

The first phase of work will include 65 individual projects, strengthening more than 3000 structures, and upgrading 63 electric line miles.

Last year, Entergy said it would keep three things in mind. That includes mitigating the impact of major storms, investing in projects where customer benefit outweighs cost, and feasibility considering labor, materials, and other constraints.

The full project, over 10 years, includes hardening more than 26,600 structures over more than 500 line miles.
