MARRERO, La. — A Marrero grandfather was killed by a three-wheel motorcycle during his daily walk Wednesday morning.
Michael McMillan, 69, was found dead at the scene of the accident on Lapalco Boulevard by The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
McMillian's wife Janice Frith McMillan said she had been trying to reach him by phone Wednesday morning, but her calls only went straight to voicemail.
According to NOLA.com, an unidentified woman was hospitalized as of Thursday afternoon. She is expected to face criminal charges in McMillan's death.
The crash happened at about 10:10 a.m., according to JPSO. Authorities are still trying to figure out how fast the woman was going when she hit McMillan. The force of the accident apparently throwing McMillan's body into an SUV that was in the U-turn lane.
The driver was thrown from her vehicle and was found lying in the median on Lapalco, investigators have not said what charges she is expected to face and have said that they are waiting for toxicology results.
