Fight at a Baton Rouge middle school ends with 12 arrests, injured police officer

BATON ROUGE, La. — A massive brawl at a Baton Rouge middle school ended with several students and parents injured including a Baton Rouge police officer.

As WBRZ reports, a fight broke out Wednesday at Brookstown Middle School. Authorities say the fight started between two females but escalated to at least a dozen people which prompted police officers serving as security at the school. The officers called for back up leading to a large police presence on campus.

BRPD also said that one officer was injured in the fight and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

At least a dozen people were arrested as a result of the fight according to our partners at WBRZ.

During the large fight, school faculty members locked students inside the gymnasium for their safety.
