NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department responded to a fatal crash that involved a motorcycle on Friday.
The crash occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on Interstate 10 heading westbound toward the city approximately half a mile from the Interstate 510 exit in New Orleans East.
Police said the crash happened when in the far left lane of I-10W when the rider struck the median and was ejected from the bike.
By 2 p.m. all four lanes of I-10 West were opened after three were initially blocked while police investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
This is an ongoing story and will be updated once further information becomes available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim and determine cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
