NEW ORLEANS — A multi-car crash on Interstate 10 in New Orleans East snarled traffic for several hours and claimed the life of a 24-year-old man on Monday morning.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the crash happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. near I-10 West and Crowder Boulevard. Police say a driver of a Cadillac Escalade was traveling on the interstate when she rear-ended a Honda Civic.
The police department said the crash caused a multi-car pileup including a Kia Forte, Chevrolet Silverado, Toyota Tacoma, and Mercedes-Benz.
The NOPD said the driver of the Honda Civic was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the Cadillac Escalade, Kia Forte, and Toyota Tacoma have been stabilized at a hospital. The driver of the Mercedes Benz and a passenger, a 3-year-old girl, was also listed in stable condition. The driver of the Silverado did not report any injuries.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy and determine the cause of death of the Honda Civic driver.
