Power restored after more than 5,000 without power in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS — Over 5,000 customers were without power in New Orleans Wednesday night, according to Entergy's outage map.

Entergy's map showed 5,210 customers were impacted by the outage. The outage started around 6 p.m. 

Power was restored to most customers around 7:56 p.m.

Residents who live in Central City, Mid-City and Treme were affected.

“Entergy New Orleans is aware of an outage currently impacting approximately 5,200 customers near the Treme and Broadmoor areas," an Entergy New Orleans spokesperson said. "Entergy crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore service. Cause is under investigation at this time.”

At one point the map showed 6,241 customers without electricity.

Entergy said power is expected to be restored by 8:30 p.m.

A cause for the outage was not given.
