METAIRIE, La. — Over 2,600 Entergy customers in Metairie were without power after a vehicle hit a pole and then a home according to Jefferson Parish Councilmember Scott Walker.

“A vehicle hit a pole then a home. The vehicle knocked over a gas meter and power pole and live power lines are on the ground. People in surrounding homes have been evacuated until Atmos & Entergy can secure the scene,” Walker said in a social media post.

Councilman Walker said residents were evacuated around the 3800 block of Hudson St. in Metairie near East Jefferson General Hospital. It is unclear if anyone was injured.

A gas leak was also reported and utility crews were on the scene to investigate and repair.
