NEW ORLEANS — The Disco Amigos Mardi Gras troupe will dance on the streets of London on New Year's Day.

After parading in New Orleans Carnival for 11 years, the retro dance group will be seen shaking their boots in London's New Year's Day Parade on Monday, Jan. 1, according to our partners at Nola.com.

A representative from London's parade organization offered the 35 members of the Amigos a spot in the popular procession.

In chrome and glitter costumes, the Amigos are set to leave for England on Dec. 28 for an eight-day celebration. They will be joined by their sister organization, the Disco Amigos of Birmingham, Alabama, Nola.com reported.

The group's London performance will include campy and fun choreography to classic tunes like, "Shake Your Groove Thing", "Disco Inferno", and "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme". Dancing through the crowd, they plan to hand out a special edition of their signature hand-decorated "Funky 45s", which are small vinyl disks upon which songs were once recorded. And of course, Mardi Gras beads.

According to Nola.com, the Disco Amigos Social Aid and Pleasure Club was founded in 2012 as a nonprofit organization and debuted in the Krewe of Muses parade.

This year for Carnival 2024, the Amigos will appear in the Poseidon parade in Slidell on Jan. 27, Cleopatra on Feb. 2, King Arthur on Feb. 4, and Babylon on Feb. 8.
