One male passenger was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. Morris and three additional passengers were taken by EMS to the hospital.

PEARL RIVER, La. — A driver from Colorado was arrested for alleged drunk driving and other charges following a single-vehicle crash that killed one passenger in the vehicle near Pearl River.

“At approximately 12:15 a.m. Sunday morning, deputies with the St. Tammany Parish Traffic Division were dispatched to Archie Singletary Road about a single-vehicle crash,” The St Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office reports.

Investigators say Kendall Morris 25, of Westminster, Colorado, was driving a Honda Pilot on Archie Singletary Road near Louisiana Highway 36 when she failed to maneuver a curve and the vehicle exited the roadway, striking a tree.

One male passenger was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. Morris and three additional passengers were taken by EMS to the hospital.

Following an investigation, the sheriff’s office says Morris was arrested on charges of Driving While Impaired, Reckless Operation, three counts of First-Degree Negligent Injuring, and one count of Vehicular Homicide.

“If you plan to drink, plan and have a designated driver or call a rideshare company,” Sheriff Smith said. “As a last resort, if you find yourself impaired with no ride, call us at (985) 898-2338 and we will assist in getting you a ride home.”
