Coast Guard searching for missing boater

Tiffany Cheramie says Saturday morning was the last time she spoke with her father before he went missing.

NEW ORLEANS — Timothy Cheramie went missing on Saturday. Now, his family is still waiting for answers. For his daughter, Tiffany Cheramie, the waiting is the worst part.

“I don’t know,” Cheramie said. “We’ve looked everywhere, we’ve searched everywhere, and there’s no sign of him.”

She says Saturday morning was the last time she spoke with her father before he went missing.

“It’s been stressful,” Cheramie said. “You know. Just wishing he could come home. Someone could find him and bring him home.”

It started off like any other day for her father. He dropped off his car at her house and left to retrieve his shrimping boat, which had taken on water off the coast of Venice.

“It wasn’t out of the ordinary that something like this would happen. What was out of the ordinary is that no one had heard from him since Saturday morning.”

But he never came home to pick up his car. That’s when Cheramie knew something was wrong.

“The day started passing by more, and it was like, something’s not right. I have an eerie feeling that something isn’t right,” Cheramie said.

The Coast Guard began searching for Cheramie, even sending an aircrew to scan the gulf waters, but his family is still waiting for answers. All they want now is his safe return.

“He’s an amazing guy,” Cheramie said. “He’s my best friend. He was always willing to help somebody.”

If anyone has any information regarding the incident, please call the US Coast Guard at (504) 365-2200. Cheramie says her father had tattoos on both of his arms and the last time he was seen, he was wearing a dark shirt.
