HARAHAN, La. — The Coast Guard is searching for a 56-year-old, Black man, who went missing on Saturday morning near Harahan.

Watchstanders from the Coast Guard said they received a call around 3 a.m. on Saturday from the National Maintenance & Repair of Louisiana Inc. saying a worker went missing.

The man is identified as Darrel Roberson, who was last seen wearing blue coveralls and had been working on a barge in the Lower Mississippi River near the Huey P. Long Bridge.

Watchstanders said they discovered a life jacket on the barge and issued an urgent marine information broadcast. They sent a small crew response boat along with a helicopter crew to find Roberson.

Anyone with information that may assist search efforts should contact Sector New Orleans at (504) 365-2209.
