Clancy's Commentary: What GOP gridlock in Washington really means for Louisiana

WWL-TV political analyst Clancy DuBos shares his take on the current state of the Republican Conference in Washington and how it affects Louisiana.

NEW ORLEANS — A political caucus, by definition, hashes out its differences behind closed doors, then sticks together in public.

That’s not happening with the Republican Conference in Washington.

We’re now in the third week of a GOP meltdown.

Congress has ground to halt over electing a Speaker, as the world teeters on the brink of war, and government on the brink of shutdown.

Worse yet, Louisiana’s Republican delegation appears to be just as fractured as the rest of the conference.

That’s bad for the Republican Party nationally and bad for Louisiana, just when Republicans elect a new governor.

Our five Republican House members need to lead by example.

Put personal agendas aside and do what’s right for Louisiana, for America, for the entire world.
