Clancy's Commentary: Local program helps those who keep New Orleans safe during Carnival season

WWL Louisiana political analyst Clancy DuBos shares more than just appreciation for the folks in blue on the road to Mardi Gras.

NEW ORLEANS — We all play a role in making Mardi Gras safe and enjoyable. But no one plays a bigger role than the hundreds of cops, deputies and other law enforcement folks who work long hours along parade routes and throughout the city. They deserve our thanks.

The New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation offers a great way to show our appreciation: It’s called the Adopt-A-Cop program. For a tax-deductible gift of $10 or more, you can provide the Krewe in Blue with hot meals, healthy snacks and beverages during Carnival’s long days and nights.

I did.

Because without the blue, there would be no purple, green and gold.
