Clancy's Commentary: City, state leaders working to make sure New Orleans lives up to the advance billing

New Orleans got a major shoutout as host of the next Super Bowl during the national broadcast of the Saints preseason game Sunday night.

NEW ORLEANS — As local and state leaders race to get New Orleans ready for hosting our record-tying 11th Super Bowl next February, broadcasters raved about our city during the Saints preseason game Sunday night. That was nice.

Speaking of shoutouts, no Super Bowl would ever happen here if not for the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, led for more than a quarter century by Jay Cicero. The Foundation is the “host eam” that brings all the big sporting events to New Orleans, from Super Bowls to men’s and women’s Final Fours to Olympic trails and pro basketball all-star games. Cicero and his team are all-stars in their own right.

Now it’s up to city and state leaders to make sure New Orleans lives up to the advance billing.
