Causeway fully open after incident forces southbound closure

No details yet as to the specifics of the incident.

MANDEVILLE, La. — UPDATE: As of 1:45 p.m., both northbound and southbound lanes are fully open. No restrictions issued.

Just a little more than an hour after the right lanes in both directions of the Causeway Bridge were opened following the closure due to severe weather caused by an 'Arctic Blast' crossing New Orleans on Tuesday, Causeway Police announced that the southbound lanes are closed due to an incident.

The closure was reported on X, formerly known as Twitter, at 12:41 p.m.

At 1:15 p.m., the Causeway Police announced that the northbound lanes were closed so that traffic cones could be picked up.

The right lanes were initially reopened at 11 a.m. with speeds limited to 45 mph.

No details yet as to the specifics of the incident or a timetable regarding the southbound lanes re-opening.

This is an ongoing story and will be updated once further information is made available.
