Building catches fire near Toulouse and Dauphine Street

NOFD responded to a fire in 500 block of Dauphine between Toulouse and St. Louis.

NEW ORLEANS — A building caught fire Thursday night in the French Quarter near Toulouse Street.

The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a fire in the 500 block of Dauphine between Toulouse and St. Louis at 6:30 p.m.

Firefighters said three fire alarms went off for three separate buildings near a parking garage like structure. The building that caught fire was in close proximity to the other two buildings and spread the flames.

Officials said it was the parking facility at the Olivier House Hotel.

Firefighters said the building was an open space with exposed beams and had a wooden roof that showed signs of a possible collapse. They said the building was used mostly for utility purposes including parking, workshop, and storage for the Olivier Hotel that sits across the street.

NOFD Fire Chief, Roman Nelson said they are checking to make sure that no collapses have happened.

No injuries have been reported but multiple fire units were on the scene and flames were seen coming out of at least one building.

Traffic is closed down in the immediate area.
