Missing Mandeville boater's body found in St. Tammany

Billy Coile's body was found approximately 3/4 of a mile offshore near Green Point.

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — The body of Billy Coile, the Mandeville boater who went missing in Lake Pontchartrain on Jan. 8, was found by St. Tammany Sheriff's Marine Division approximately 3/4 of a mile offshore near Green Point, according to a press release.

The St. Tammany Coroner said that Cole died from accidental drowning. 

Coile, 44 years old went out to go fishing on January 7, and his boat was found floating under the Causeway the next day. STPSO Marine Division, the U.S Coast guard and Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries could not find him after an entire day of searching.

"Sheriff Randy Smith offers his condolences to Coile’s family and his sincere appreciation to the STPSO Marine Division, the STPSO Dive Team, Wildlife and Fisheries and the countless volunteers who never gave up, searching from daylight to dark and using every resource available, every day for over a week, to bring closure to this family," the press release said.
