GRAND ISLE, La. — Police in Grand Isle say they have recovered the body of the 13-year-old boy who went missing in the waters off of Grand Isle.
Grand Isle Assistant Police Chief, Walter Theriot, confirms that the 13-year-old boy's body was found about 3.5 miles from where he drowned near the Bridge Side Marina.
The boy went under the water near a rock jetty that was "very dangerous" and "conditions were rough", Police Chief Walter Theriot said Saturday. "And I was advised that he could barely swim."
Police say the boy’s body was recovered Sunday.
Assistant Chief Theriot also confirmed another child was pulled from the water a short time after the boy’s body was found.
The 10-year-old girl was pulled from the water by police. EMS performed CPR and she was airlifted to Children’s Hospital. Her condition is unknown.
This comes as many visitors are in Grand Isle for the Memorial Day weekend.
