'Blossom-ing' | Kermit Ruffins' paralyzed daughter loves her gift of mobility

Back in April, the toddler was too overwhelmed by all the excitement and would not try the chair.

NEW ORLEANS — You may remember the story of the little girl WWL Louisiana has been following for a few years named Blossom.

She was injured before she was born when a stray bullet hit her pregnant mother.

Earlier this year, volunteer Tulane biomedical engineering students, and the non-profit “MakeGood,” gave Blossom a gift they built.

It is a special, little, rolling chair so she could get around on her own.

Back in April, the toddler was too overwhelmed by all the excitement and would not try the chair.

On Thursday, her parents, beloved trumpet player Kermit Ruffins, and Harmonese Pleasant, sent us some home video and pictures, to show us she now loves it and how it's making a difference in her life.
