BATON ROUGE, La. — The Burbank Walmart in Baton Rouge is closed indefinitely after a fire Sunday, causing $9M in damages, our partners at WBRZ reported.
Officials said the fire happened shortly before 8 p.m. when the St. George Fire Department was alerted of a fire inside the building. When firefighters arrived, the building was evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
According to WBRZ, investigators determined the fire was set intentionally.
A spokesperson for the fire department said the estimated damages are up to $9M due to the "extensive damage from the sprinklers, smoke and flames."
Officials said there are other alternatives nearby including Albertsons or Rouses, both on Bluebonnet Boulevard.
