NEW ORLEANS — Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints running back is now a partner in the development of a golf-entertainment complex, according to Nola.com. The Five O Fore project plans to open in mid-December on Howard Avenue.
The Five O Fore developer, Alex Xiao said Kamara chose to make a "significant minority investment", our partners reported. It comes after he was introduced through his business partner, Rennard Meade, the prime contractor for Five O Fore.
Kamara told our partners, "I think Five O Fore golf entertainment is a concept that this city has been missing."
According to Nola.com, development has been in the works since 2016. It came after The Times-Picayune building was bought for $3.5 million, but experienced multiple delays, including financial issues during the pandemic.
Developers have an agreement with the city to pay a lower property tax until it regains some development costs. The terms of that agreement include the city "clearing space under the South Broad Street bridge to add parking spaces to the 175 spots that will be on-site at the Euphrosine Street entrance," our partners reported.
Xiao said he plans a "soft opening" and is starting to hire about 250 employees when it is fully operational next year.
Five O Fore will have 78 bays on three levels for golfers to aim at different distances. A bar will also be featured on each floor.
