BATON ROUGE, La. — Four people were rescued Thursday morning after their boat sank in the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge.
According to the Coast Guard, a report was received at 11 a.m. that a towing vessel, Michelle Anne, sank at Baton Rouge Anchorage near mile marker 226 on the river. The four crewmembers aboard the boat were rescued by a nearby tug boat.
The Coast Guard says there were no injuries.
The river is now closed from mile marker 224.5 to mile marker 226. Crews were deployed to the area to locate the sunken vessel and to look for signs of pollution.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
